Hello, and welcome to the official homepage of FUBAR, the Fraternal University of Bright All-round Role-players. My name is Floyd Fubar, and I'll be your guide to the wonderful world of games that are played by the wonderful gamers in FUBAR!
Wow! It's been a while since this sight was updated, huh? Okay, so it's been over six months! Let's not get picky! Finally, the sight has been updated! Let me first explain to you what this sight is about, then I'll say what happened with the delay.
FUBAR is a small group located in sunny San Diego, CA. It came about when several friends got together and decided that they wanted to play some form of Role-Playing Game on a regular basis. They finally settled on once a month, as they seemed to be the only time they could get together, and a rotating game schedule. This means that they would play an adventure in one game, and then, if everyone agrees, they play an adventure in a different game.
Of course, Role-Playing Games wasn't the only thing that they played. Some were also into playing tabletop war games, such as Warhammer 40,000, and there was even a Blood Bowl league at one point (though that's a different story). So, with a plan in mind, several players with dice in hands, all that was needed was a game to play! The first game that was played was AD&D (Second Edition Rules) set in The World of Yerth, a setting created by Christopher Blanchard, who also DM'd the game.
Chris ran the group through "Return to the Keep on the Borderlands," and a rousing time was had by all. Eventually, they finished that adventure, and it was time to decide what to do next. Andy Blanchard, Chris' older brother, had been dying to run a game of Changeling, and presented this option to the group. Several members had already played short games of this before, and all were willing to give it a try. So, the group was gathered, characters were created, new dice (10-siders) were gathered, and the first game of the Swaying Palms Chronicle was played!
Of course, being the group of gaming fanatics that they are, playing only one RPG a month wasn't enough. So, other games, in various forms, were started. These games included D&D 3rd Edition, a Play-By-E-Mail Star Trek game and the new Star Wars RPG. However, as seems to happen with all gaming groups, life happened, and people left the group (to start college), were too busy to play, or what have you. The end result was that fewer and fewer people were playing fewer and fewer games. Eventually, the webmaster decided that it was just too much trouble to update a website no one was using.
Finally, the few remaining players left, made a last desperate effort to keep the game going! Heading to their local gaming store, they posted their need for new players for a new D&D game, and quickly a new group was put together. The new game once again is DM'd by Chris Blanchard in his World of Yerth setting. It's been going on for a few months now, and the Webmaster decided that, as things seemed to be going pretty good, it was time to update this site. So, here we are!
"So what?" I hear you ask. "What is this website four, then? To just show off a bunch of gaming geeks?" Well, no, not really. I mean, yes, that's part of it, but the original concept had a real use. With only one game being played once a month, it was easy to forget exactly what went on at last month’s game. Even now, with only one game being played every week, it can get easy to forget what happened a few weeks ago. So, to keep track of what's been happening in the campaign, this website was created. In the pages of this site you will find a description of the current game, as well as an archived section with details of the older games, a calendar of events, and other fun and exciting games related to FUBAR! So, sit back, get a comfortable grip on your mouse, and have fun!
